Place Jose Rizal, Paris

Jose Rizal – Heros Nacional des Philippines

Place Jose Rizal Heros Nacional des Philippines

I was standing outside the cafe that first night I arrived in Paris, it was already past midnight, raining, cold and windy. I waited the landlord to come back from the opera, I stood outside a cafe and saw this. I thought its gotta be the Dr. Jose Rizal that I know! There’s only one Jose Rizal that I know in my entire life. So what if I see his name in a post in Paris? he travelled many places in Europe right? I think that’s how he learned to speak many languages. So I went near to read what it says.  Just as I thought what it was HEROS NACIONAL DES PHILIPPINESI had to smile.

I didn’t look for this post, I was just lucky to find that the B&B that I stayed was right in front of this post in Rue De Maubeuge.

Before going to see the Eiffel tower I researched what this post is all about and why is it outside my place. It turned out that Rizal stayed in Hotel de Paris in 37 Rue De Maubeuge in the 9th arrondissement. Many Filipinos all over the world who come to Paris visit this area to have a picture of the post. In fact, as you can see the post still has a bouquet of flowers attached to it perhaps some Filipinos put it there because December 30th was his death anniversary and I was there early January.

Here I am I didn’t even have to travel far to see this, it was just right outside my door.

Before heading to the tower and early morning of January 18th on my way to Gare du Nord going to Londres I took another selfie.
